Dixie BassMasters of Northeast Florida has been in existence since the early ‘70’s.  Our Club was established as an affiliate with B.A.S.S. as club number 987.  We are currently not affiliated with a national organization, but may reconsider affiliation in the future.  As a relatively small club with fifteen to twenty active members, we meet on the first Thursday of each month and fish the following Saturday.  Our membership is diverse and our members live all over the greater Jacksonville, Florida area.  Our meetings are held in the Mandarin area.

We fish area lakes and the St. Johns River from Astor to Green Cove Springs.  Lakes we fish include Rodman, Crescent, Santé Fe, Kerr, Orange, Lochloosa and others.  In the spring and fall we have two-day tournaments at places generally outside of the normal range for our monthly tournaments.  West Lake Toho, the Kissimmee Chain, the Harris Chain, and Lake Seminole are some of our favorite places for two-day tournaments.  Expenses for tournaments are split between the boater and non-boater.

Club dues are $220 a year and are paid monthly.  Club dues provide each member lodging for Friday and Saturday and dinner for the two-day events.  Additionally, five awards are given out at the end of the calendar year.  Usually, a nice embroiled shirt, jacket, or tackle bag is awarded for Angler of the Year, Big Bass, Sportsman of the Year and second and third places.

We are a group of fishermen who love to fish and enjoy the fellowship and competition.  New members range from someone who is just getting started to experienced anglers and all are welcome.  We look forward to each month’s tournament and especially the two day tournaments.  All tournaments are draw tournaments and members are not allowed to fish with the same person two months in a row.  We do make exceptions for couples who wish to fish together most of the year.  Couples must enter the draw for at least two tournaments each year.  Tournaments include an optional pot for most weight and big fish ($10 per angler).  Our club would not likely be considered a money club.

Boaters and non-boaters are welcome.  If you have an interest in a bass club, come visit us and fish as a guest.  We would be delighted to have you.  You can contact our President, Don Walton via email at adonwalton@gmail.com or our Vice President and Tournament Director, Dick DeWiggins at sunsetseeker2@gmail.com .
